NAPLES — Joan Lawrence, 78, a longtime resident of Naples, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, peacefully in her home.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, children, and two brothers. She is survived by her siblings, William Burnham of Lakeville, Kenneth Burnham of Bridgton, Rae Ann Scott of Arlington, Texas, Rosanna Aiken of Racine, Wis.; Winnifred Somers of Claremont, Fla., Sharon Allen of Dresden, Scott Burnham of Harrison, Randall Burnham of Litchfield; two granddaughters, Jacqueline Lawrence of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Heather Smith of Bridgton; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Harper.

Joan was a warm, loving and giving person. Family is what defined her. She was an avid letter writer, keeping in touch with family and friends all over the country. She loved history, whether it be town history or family history, gardening, and animals. Joan would find a home for unwanted animals or take them in herself.

A private celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harvest Hills Animal Shelter.
