WINDHAM — Jo-Ann Pendleton, 71, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born July 14, 1943, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Jenkins of Norwood, Pa. When she was 14, she met her future husband from her summers on Campobello Island, and his on Deer Island in Canada where they both had families. After graduating from Interborro High School in 1962, she married Larry Pendleton of Falmouth. They lived briefly in Norwood, Pa., and Virginia Beach, Va., before settling in Windham, where they resided for the past 50 years.

Jo-Ann raised her three children before going back to work ultimately at the University of Southern Maine’s financial aid office. Jo-Ann took up quilting as a hobby with a few friends and it evolved to be her passionate craft. When retired, she quilted tirelessly, donating to the Linus Project, and making sure her children and grandchildren all had at least two quilts, and the newborns of nieces and nephews were included. She never desired to sell quilts as she was too busy thinking of the next person who needed one. She and Larry enjoyed the warm winters of Mexico and Florida, summers poolside, golf outings and begrudgingly trips to Deer Island even though she enjoyed herself.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Deborah Menezes of Harrison, Suzanne Griffin of South Windsor, Conn., and Christine Powell of Windham; brother, Thomas Jenkins, of Manahawkin, N.J.; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be held at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham, on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. for visiting and a service at 2 p.m. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com
