Jennette R. Hodge, 81

EFFINGHAM, N.H. — Jennette R. Hodge, 81, of Effingham, N.H., passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro, N.H.

She was born in Baldwin, the daughter of the late Ernest and Edna (Riley) Eldridge.

She graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1952, where she was a member of the Glee Club and Drama Club and served as a manager of the girls’ basketball and field hockey teams. She also attended MacIntosh Business College in Dover, N.H.

Mrs. Hodge had been employed at the Center Ossipee IGA, the Center Ossipee Pharmacy and Indian Head Bank in Center Ossipee, N.H. Jennette worked for several years for the Carroll County Independent, as a typesetter. After the Independent was sold, she worked for the Ossipee Central School until her retirement in 2005.

She lived most of her life in Center Ossipee, moving to Effingham in 1988.

When her children first started school, she was secretary of the PTA at Ossipee Central School, and was also a member of the Indian Mound Golf Course for several years. She loved being with her family, camping, arts and crafts, and attending bluegrass concerts.

Jennette is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fenton A. Hodge of Effingham, N.H.; a son, Dennis Hodge of Stoneham; two daughters, Debra Kierstead of New Boston, N.H. and Donna Ulitz of Chocorua, N.H.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandsons; a brother, Glenn Eldridge of Gorham; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.
