AUBURN — Jean Arthur Bouchard, 78, of Sweden, died on Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Hospice House in Auburn, after several months at home battling pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Salem, Mass., on June 18, 1937, the son of Arthur and Lucille Houle Bouchard. He served in the Army National Guard and Reserves. He worked in the construction industry for 42 years in Boston, Mass., and surrounding communities, building hospitals and colleges. He worked for many years as Construction Superintendent for A.J. Martini, Inc., of Malden, Mass. Jean was a 50-year member of the Carpenters Union Local #26, member of the American Legion in Mass., and currently in Harrison at Post #139. In the early 70s, while living Hamilton, Mass., he was cofounder of the Hamilton/Wenham Rod and Gun Club, which today is a very active club, and with his wife, an R.N., he volunteered for the American Heart Association teaching CPR to the local Hamilton Fire and Police Depts., and during the summer to the residents of Sweden.

In his retirement years he did finish carpentry in his home, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, reading and traveling to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to visit dearest friends. He was a Civil War buff.

He is survived by his wife Annette Geoffroy of 56 1/2 years, where they lived in Hamilton, Mass., 40 years, spending weekends in Sweden, until moving there in 1999; sons John of Wareham, Mass., and David of Winchendon, Mass.; sisters Alene Jalbert and husband Hector of Benbrook, Tex., and Claire Bailey and husband James of Salem, Mass.; brother Kenneth Bouchard and his wife Doris of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother David F. Bouchard Lt. Col. U.S.A.F., of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a sister Joan C. Jordan of Hamilton, Mass., and Kennebunkport.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Church in Bridgton. Family and friends may attend visitation on Wednesday, July 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton.
