James Flagg

NAPLES — James Flagg, 74, of Naples passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 5, 2011.

Jim was born in Naples, where he lived all his life, on March 3, 1937 to James and Celia Gardner Flagg. He graduated from Casco High School in 1955 and then earned a degree in automotive mechanics from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1957.

Jim worked at Flagg Lumber, founded by his father, and later became owner. Most recently, he spent 18 years working for Lake Region School District as a delivery technician, where he found his niche of interacting with people. He joked with many of the people he saw on his daily route and said he was trying to brighten their days.

Jim enjoyed working outdoors and gardening at his home. He loved his dogs and considered them to be members of his family.

He leaves his wife Peggy Hall Flagg of 54 years; two daughters, Tamra Warner of Bridgton and Terry Flagg-Bell of Naples; a son, Todd Flagg of Fryeburg; and four grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held at Hall Funeral Home on Quaker Ridge Road in Casco on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be no funeral service at his request.

In lieu of flowers, donations for perennial planters in Jim’s name may be made to: Lake Region School District, c/o Rosie Schacht, 1879 Roosevelt Trail, Naples, ME 04055.
