James E. Rivard

BRIDGTON — James Ernest Rivard, 67, of Bridgton died Saturday, Oct. 30, at Bridgton Hospital. He was born on Dec. 23, 1942 in Milford Conn. to Ernest and Dorothy Bouteiller Rivard. James graduated from Milford High School. He served as a Seabee in the US Navy. He married Susan Smith on Feb. 25, 1967. She passed away in 2006. He was an auctioneer and owner of Rivard Auctions in Bridgton. He was a member of the Oriental #13 Masonic Lodge in Bridgton. He was involved in local politics, serving on the school board, as a selectman and as acting town manager. James also served as a volunteer fireman.
James is survived by his mother, his fiancée Jo Anne Edwards, one Daughter Teresa Rivard of Bridgton, one son Richard Rivard and his companion Renata Rolfe of Bridgton, two brothers Edward Rivard and his wife Sharon, and Gerald Rivard and his companion Claudia, all of Conn.; a brother-in-law George Smith and wife Terrie of Fla. and a family friend Christopher Grant. An open house in his honor will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rivard Hall, 510 Portland Rd. Bridgton.
