James Koran

James Edwin Koran, 81, of Naples, passed away November 16. He was the adopted son of John James and Anna Mae (Groshko) Koran.

He is survived by Mary Jo Pauwels Koran, his wife of 61 years, and two sons, Michael and Kevin. Also, daughter-in-law Andrea Koran; four grandchildren: Victor, Frank, Felysha and James Koran; great-grandson Kolton; brother-in-
law Gerard Pauwels; two sisters-in-law Anita Pauwels and Sarah Pauwels; three nieces Erin Pauwels, Amanda Pauwels and Laura Pauwels Slabach and his favorite nephew Matthew Pauwels and great-nephew Rowan Slabach.

He was predeceased by his parents, son J. Bryan Koran, brothers-in-law James Pauwels and John Pauwels and sister-in-law Colleen Kristl Pauwels.

At 15, he achieved the Boy Scout rank of Eagle. Jim retired from Dodge Industrial of Greenville, S.C., after 44 years with the company. He was a diehard Indy car fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling with friends of many years. In recent years, he served on the board of directors of the Madison Heights Homeowners Association and was a maintenance volunteer at the Naples Public Library.

A memorial celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later time.
