Jacqueline Palmer, 81

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA. — Jacqueline “Jackie” Palmer, 81, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Port Charlotte, FL after a short illness due to lung cancer and various complications.

She was born Feb. 27, 1934 in Hartford, Conn., and was raised in Calais, where she graduated from Calais High School. She then attended St. Stephens Business Academy in St. Stephens, New Brunswick, across the St. Croix River from Calais. Following her graduation, she moved to Augusta, where she worked for the State of Maine prior to moving back to Hartford in 1957. She was employed by the Motor Transportation Association of Connecticut in 1960, and worked there for 31 years, at which time she retired as office manager and secretary to the president of the association.

In 1960, she married Philip Palmer. Their son, Michael, was born in 1969. In 1991, she and Philip retired and moved to Naples. She was a volunteer at Bridgton Hospital for several years, and was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 155 in Naples. Since 1999, Jackie and Philip wintered in Port Charlotte, Fla., where she passed away.

Jackie will be greatly missed by her husband, Philip; son, Michael; and a granddaughter.
