DENMARK — Ida M. McLeod, 90, of Denmark, died on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at Bridgton Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Denmark on Sept. 7, 1925, a daughter of Bennett and Verna (Babb) Moulton. She attended Denmark schools and was a 1943 graduate of Fryeburg Academy. She went on to attend business college in Portland, and worked as a secretary for a couple of years at the Hannaford Co. in Portland.

Ida married Charles E. McLeod on Aug. 3, 1946. She moved with Charles to Attleboro, Mass., for a couple of years, after which they returned to Denmark, where they moved into the house they have lived in for the last 67 years. She was tax collector for the Town of Denmark for 13 years. She retired from the Moir Company in Denmark where she had worked as a secretary for several years.

Ida had been a member of the Denmark Congregational Church. She enjoyed hunting in her younger years and was always an avid reader. She liked traveling, especially with friends on the Maine Line Tours. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Charles McLeod of Denmark; three daughters: Cynthia Lee of Denmark, Judy Tardif and husband Ronald of Denmark, and Margaret Mills and significant other Richard Towle of Denmark; 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the Residential Care Staff at Bridgton Health Care Center and the Comfort Care Nursing Staff at Bridgton Hospital for the compassionate care that Ida received.

A graveside service will be on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m., at the Gilman Cemetery on the Rocky Knoll Road in Denmark. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.wnyfuneralhome.com
