Howard E. Berry

Bridgton — Howard Edwin Berry Jr. (Sonny), of Bridgton, died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 6 at Bridgton Hospital. He was born in Bridgton on May 15, 1940, the son of Howard E. Berry Sr. and Mary Eva Barns Berry. He graduated from Bridgton High School in 1959 and faithfully served his country in the U. S. Navy, doing a tour of duty with the Navy Seabees.

He married Donna Buckley in 1965. He had been employed at Bridgton Public Works, Bridgton Water District and Bridgton Library as a caretaker. He loved going for drives down back roads, camping, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He loved and owned antique cars. He loved to travel and enjoyed his trips to Alaska and Ireland.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Bridgton; his children, daughter, Tracy Berry and her children Chelsea Rogers and her husband Robert, and Ashley Wheeler and her husband Dean and their daughter Makenzi; daughter, Lisa Berry and her children, Danielle Stanton and her daughter Maddison Robbins and Lisa’s son Dylan Berry-Sprague; daughter, Dawn Reiman and her husband Daniel and their children, Halee and Grady, daughter, Melissa Berry; brothers and sisters, Peter and Jane Berry, Stephen and Barbara Berry, Dean and Mary Berry, Linda Berry, Ann and Bob Hatch, Sally and Ralph Perrino, Nona and Barry Gilman, and Mary and George Earl; and sister-in-law, Sandra Berry. He was predeceased by a brother, Philip Berry. The family would like to thank Dr. Erinn Wright for the wonderful care she provided for Sonny.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at the South Bridgton Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in his memory to Naples Family Practice, 410 Roosevelt Trail, Naples, ME 04055.
