Herbert L. Pike

NAPLES — Herbert L. Pike, 77, of Naples died Wednesday morning, Sept. 29, 2010 at the Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born in South Waterford on Feb. 27, 1933, a son of Grace Skinner and Clayton Alvin Pike. Herbert worked in the woods most of his life. In 1974, he went to Alaska to join the laborers union and worked on the pipeline until his retirement. In his younger years, he trained and drove sulky horses.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Edith Monk of Nashua, N.H.; brothers John of Oxford, Wendell of Waterford, Fred of Harrison and Robert of South Waterford.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Carolyn of Naples; his daughter Grace Onofrio of Norway; two stepsons, William Fitzcharles of Lincolnville and Robert Fitzcharles of Bridgton; two granddaughters; three step-grandsons; five sisters, Lilia Hill of Norway, Laura Richardson of Las Vegas, Ruth O’Brien of South Paris, Betty Adams of Bridgton and Eva Thurlow of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Pike’s request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Casco where online condolences may be left at hallfuneralhomeinc.com
