KITTERY — Herbert L. Andrews, 92, of Kittery and formerly of North Waterford, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at York Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1919, in North Waterford, the son of the late Luther N. and Edith M. (Palmer) Andrews. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He had worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years before retiring. He was an avid gardener, coin collector and woodworker. He spent 20 years wintering in Lakeland, Fla., along with his wife.

He was predeceased by his wife, Leona (Tracy) Andrews; his son, Ronald K. Andrews; a granddaughter; five brothers, Charles, Arthur, Oscar, William and George Andrews; and two sisters, Jennie Rice and Carrie Andrews.

He leaves two grandsons of York; and seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
