HANOVER, N.H. — Hazel West Day Heald, 86, of Conway, N.H., passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017 at Hanover Terrace in Hanover, N.H.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1931, in Fryeburg, a daughter of William A. and Elsie (Sawyer) Day. She attended local schools, graduating from Fryeburg Academy and spending the majority of her adult life in Conway, N.H.

She married Glen Thibodeau in 1951 and raised three children. She later married Phillip Heald in 1970 with whom she shared her passion for dancing and traveling to wherever there was a Saturday night dance. She loved spending time sledding in the winter, summer cookouts and celebrating birthdays and holidays with her family. She also enjoyed traveling around various parts of the country and snuggling with her kitty, “Raskel.” The close bond with her brother and sisters and their families throughout her life meant a great deal to her.

Hazel was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and TOPS weight loss program in the Conway area.

Hazel is survived by her son, Bruce Thibodeau of Standish; her daughter, Jan Brown of Chocorua, N.H.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Phillip Heald in 2016; her youngest son, Michael Thibodeau in 2015; brothers, William Everett, Carroll, Edgar Lewis and Kenneth Neal Day; sisters, Abbie Harding, Evelyn Hilton, Mildred Yates and Doris Allen.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017 at the Center Conway United Methodist Church, 1626 E. Main Street, Center Conway, N.H. Private family interment was in Stow.
