Gwen Hart

Gwen (Gatz) Hart, 67, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 while surrounded by her family.

Gwen was born on Nov. 23, 1946.

Gwen grew up in Texas, always having a special place in her heart for the fond memories created at Buckner Orphanage. Gwen lived in Texas, Wisconsin, Kansas and California, before making Maine her home in 1997. Gwen had  tender heart as a mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She was magnetic and naturally engaging. Gwen loved to cook, and she was great at it. More than she loved to cook, she loved to eat. She loved thunderstorms, and when her children were small, she would call them to safety during a storm, but then stand on the porch with childlike enthusiasm and say things like “Yipee!” and “That’s a doozy.” She was inclined to adventures of the serendipitous sort. Some more of her favorite things were playing word games of any kind, puzzles, singing, reading (especially books about the Maine woods), traveling, antiquing and shelling. Her favorite shells were not the largest, but the smallest that she could find. Gwen’s greatest love was for her God Jehovah. She spent much of her time helping others in her volunteer ministry as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a dearly loved member of the Bridgton Congregation. Her favorite scripture was the promise of a better future in Isaiah 33:24. Gwen will be immeasurably missed and endlessly loved.

Gwen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by many, especially by her husband Jerry; her children Richard Young of California, Kristin Plucinski of Texas, Chance Young of Utah, Keely Grover of Florida and Cory Young of Mexico; her seven beautiful grandchildren; and her brothers, Greg, Roger, Tommy and David.
