HOMOSASSA, FLA. — Gloria L. (Day/Fitch) MacDonald, 69, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at HPH Hospice Care Center after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was born Feb. 25, 1945, in Cornish, Maine to Robert and Ida Day. She attended Brownfield schools and later resided in Sebago and Bridgton before moving to Florida. Gloria was married to G. Evans Fitch Jr. for many years, and was a singer with several country music bands in Maine, including “Country Cookin.” She also had many interests including cooking, ceramics and traveling.
Gloria is survived by her husband of six years, Peter MacDonald of Homosassa; two daughters, Elaine (Fitch) Hunt and husband Ted of Warwick, R.I., and Allyson (Fitch) Govoni and husband Jon of W. Warwick, R.I.; six grandchildren, Kayla (Boyer) Girard, Andrew Boyer, Gregory Boyer, Brianna Blackmon, Jillian Govoni and Benjamin Govoni; and 1 great-grandchild Paisley Girard. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Day and his wife, Sharon, of Brownfield and Carl Day of Fryeburg; and several other relatives in the area. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Day, of Idaho.
Arrangements were made with Hooper Funeral Home and Crematory of Homosassa, Fla.
