SACO — Mrs. Gloria Ann (Hurlock) FitzPatrick, 91, of Saco, formerly of Cape Elizabeth, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late John D. “Bud” FitzPatrick, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Raised in Marblehead, Mass., Gloria was the daughter of the late Horrace and Lillian (Dean) Hurlock.
During her life, Mrs. FitzPatrick and her husband owned and operated Colonial Business Machines and later the Retail Service Company. Following retirement, Glo and Bud retired to Sweden, where she was proud to be on the Counsel of the Town of Sweden.
Mrs. FitzPatrick was an advocate for nature, and she loved the peace and beauty of flowers, birds and the outdoors. She was a wonderful cook, a very talented artist and a gifted musician. Above all else, Glo devoted her life to raising her five children. She was an adoring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband, Gloria was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Young.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine FitzPatrick of Norway, Lois Trompeter and husband Scott of San Miguel, Calif.; sons, Michael FitzPatrick and wife Lee of Jackson Hole, Wyo., Timothy FitzPatrick and wife Jennifer of Cape Elizabeth, and Joel FitzPatrick and wife Kelly of Harpswell; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Dowst of Concord, N.H., Lois Crist of Hudson, N.Y., and Dorothy Stowe of St. Johnsbury, Vt.
Mrs. FitzPatrick’s funeral service was held on Monday, Oct., 27, 2014, at 1 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 15 Cleveland St., Saco. Burial will be private. Arrangements under the direction of Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 172 State St., Portland.
