PORTLAND — Gloria Ann Spaulding Dugan, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Barron Center in Portland.

Born on Jan. 12, 1938, in Proctorsville, Vt., she was the daughter of Wayne and Anna (Place) Spaulding. She attended elementary schools in Proctorsville, Vt., and her family moved to Chester, Vt. She graduated from Chester High School in 1956 and the University of Vermont in 1960. She later received her degree from Boston College School of Social Work.

In 1964, she returned to Vermont and worked for the Department of Children’s Services until she moved to Maine and took a position with Catholic Charities, where she worked for over 30 years, retiring as a director.

In 1973, she married Richard F. Dugan. Gloria enjoyed spending her summers at the lake cottage on Big Sebago. She enjoyed boating, fishing, kayaking and swimming. She was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots and NASCAR. Over the years, Gloria was attached to her several dogs. She loved to travel throughout Maine, Vermont, and other parts of the country. Gloria was very grateful to her close friends that were so helpful to her during her difficult times.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her stepson, Paul Richard Dugan.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Falmouth; her stepchildren, John Anthony Dugan and his children of Raymond, and David Frank Dugan of Portland; her sister, Linda Spaulding Benson of Bloomsburg, Pa.; her nieces and nephew.
