Glenn Chadbourne Sr.

PORTLAND — Glenn James Chadbourne Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2014, surrounded by his family at Maine Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Bridgton, to Delmar and Phyllis (Lambert) Chadbourne. Glenn attended school in Bridgton and entered the U.S. Army in 1951. He served two years in the heavy mortar division and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Glenn married Janice Ann Bowley on May 29, 1954, and they lived in Brunswick and Topsham until 1971, when they returned to Bridgton.

He was employed by Central Maine Power as a 1st Class Lineman for 35 years. When he retired in 1989, he and Janice enjoyed many years as snowbirds in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and grandparenting, and was affectionately known as Boppa to his five grandchildren.

He is survived by Janice, his wife of 59 years; two sons, Glenn J. (Jim) Chadbourne Jr. of Denmark and his wife Peg, and Gary M. Chadbourne of Bridgton and his wife Laurie; daughter Linda A. Chadbourne of Conway, N.H.; grandsons, Christopher S. Shepard of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Jacob M. Chadbourne of Bridgton; granddaughters, Katherine J. (Kaytee) Chadbourne of Bridgton, Leah M. Shepard of Barrington, N.H., and Miranda L. Chadbourne of Bridgton; a brother, Wayne L. Chadbourne of Readfield; and several nieces and nephews. Glenn was predeceased by his brother Dennis A. Chadbourne.

Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday, March 9, 2014, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 8 Elm St., Bridgton.
