Glendon D. Huntress Sr.

Glendon Dean Huntress Sr., 86, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at his home in Bridgton.

Glen was born in Cornish on June 15, 1935, the youngest child of Weston and Grace (Sargent) Huntress.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a sawmill operator at JR Mains Woodturning Mill in Bridgton for more than twenty years. In 1976, he opened Bridgton Foreign Auto with partner Bob Brooks and took sole control in 1983. Glen successfully ran the business on his own until retiring in 1998. He was a hard worker and a well-liked businessman who made lifelong friends with everyone he met.

Glen was a sportsman and gun collector who greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was beloved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his generosity, good humor, and homemade white lightning.

Glen is loved and remembered by his children, John and his wife, Judy Huntress, Robin Sandus, Glendon Jr. “Chip” and his wife, Diane Huntress, Devon Deery and her husband, Sean, William “Tinker” Huntress and his fiancée Virginia; ten grandchildren; and even more great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Paula Smith.
