Gladys Polland

CASCO — Gladys C. Polland, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at Androscoggin Home Care-Hospice in Auburn, surrounded by family.

She was born Jan. 3, 1934 in Lewiston, the daughter of Ruth and Richard Stoddard. She graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn, where she enjoyed playing intramural basketball. She then attended business school for two years.

On Sept. 4, 1954, she married Carleton J. Polland Jr., who died Sept. 30, 2004. They were married for 50 years. She was a devoted wife and mother, staying home and raising her children. She enjoyed knitting, watching New England sports teams, and above all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Jurczak of Auburn; her son, Carleton John Polland III of Casco; four daughters, Susan Robinson of Naples, Pamela Meredith of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Julie Andrews of Pembroke, Mass. and Mary Morelli of Otisfield; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her son, Scott Polland; and a grandson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road, Casco. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at hallfuneralhome.net
