Georgette F. Marcoux

 

Georgette F. Marcoux, 89, formerly of Lewiston, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at the Clover Manor in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on Jan. 18, 1923, she was the daughter of Lucien and Jeanne Dubois Labrie. Educated in local schools, she worked as a bookkeeper for National Candy and Tobacco, United Grocers, and Jimmie’s Diner and Gas Stations. After retiring in 1985, she went to work part-time for the Dominican Fathers on Bartlett Street.

She was married to Normand N. Marcoux, who passed away in 1968. Georgette loved to travel, and enjoyed spending vacations with family. She was also very active at the Lewiston Senior’s Center, where she was an avid card player and went on many excursions. She was an avid backyard gardener, and also collected antique dolls, fans, and porcelain figurines. A member of Ss. Peter & Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by a son, Michael and wife Cynthia of Bridgton; two grandsons, Mathieu of Bridgton, and Brett and wife Julie of Pittsburg, Pa.; two great-granddaughters, Sadie and Aubrielle Marcoux; a brother, Maurice Labrie and wife Dot of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Labrie.

Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 4, in the lower church of Ss. Peter & Paul Basilica. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Clover Health Care Activity Fund, c/o the Development Office, 440 Minot Avenue, Auburn, ME 04241.
