PORTLAND — George E. “Skip” Turner Jr., 71, of Portland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 after a five month illness, surrounded by family at Maine Medical Center.

Skip was born in Portland on April 1, 1944, the son of the late George and Eileen Turner, “Bud and Molly.”

Skip graduated from Portland schools and retired from New England Telephone after 35 years of dedicated service.

Skip’s favorite family activities included amusement parks, (teacups, trains and merry-go-rounds) and Marco Island, Fla.

Skip is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Barron Turner; his siblings, Rosemary Curtis of Scarborough and Colleen Sloat of Raymond; his children, George E. Turner III, Catherine A. McLullen, David M. Turner, Tatum Eileen Turner-Krause of Conn. and Tristin Dawn Krause of Portland; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandson, six nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and nephews, as well as many aunts and uncles.

A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 673 Stevens Avenue, in Portland. A celebration of life will follow at Tristin’s home. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.athutchins.com
