SOUTH PARIS — George D. Fellows Sr., 72, of South Paris, died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at his home.
George was born Oct. 30, 1941 in Waynesboro, Pa. He was the son of Alta and Edwin Fellows Sr. of High Field, Md. He was one of 11 children. George worked at Waynesboro Shoe, where he met Judy Stoops and they were married on Oct. 13, 1962. They had four children while living in Pennsylvania, and then in 1969 moved to Maine and had four more children. He worked at Decoster Egg Farm driving trucks. He was one of Bancroft Construction’s first employees, operating heavy machinery. Later, he operated tower cranes for Cianbro until his retirement.
In his spare time, George was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved boating, camping and family barbecues.
On Jan. 7, 2013, George unexpectedly lost his wife, Judy, after 50 years of marriage.
George is survived by his eight children, Bonnie Knightly of South Paris, Diana Jones of Mexico, Carla Ring of Otisfield, Tiffany Fellows of Otisfield, Jameely Fellows of Lewiston, George D. Fellows Jr. of Harrison, Alicia Cushman of South Paris, and Travis Fellows of Harrison; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his brother, Edwin Fellows of South Paris; and four sisters, Joyce, Jane, Mary and Pearl.
Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main Street, Oxford.
