Genevieve G. Graffam

WINDHAM — Genevieve G. Graffam, 99, of Mill Pond Rd., passed away Wednesday Nov.16, 2011 at her home, with her family by her side.

She was born in Portland, the daughter of Christopher and Helen Reardon Bowden. She was raised and educated in Portland. Genevieve was a homemaker. Her six kids were her pride and joy. She loved to cook. Children in the neighborhood would come and visit and she would feed them all. She was very well liked by everyone and was very active until a few weeks ago. When Genevieve was 89, the Town of Windham named her Citizen of the Month.

Her husband Ralph Graffam Sr. died in 1984. She was also predeceased by a son, David L. Graffam, a daughter, Anne Maloney and husband Donald; and her five brothers Eugene, William, Robert, George and Philip Bowden.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Graffam of Naples and Florida, and Ralph Graffam Jr. of Gorham; two daughters, Joyce Doughty of North Waterboro and Helen Goodwin of Haines City, Fla. and Sebago; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Portland. Burial followed in New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
