Gary T. Tryon, 67

WEST BALDWIN – Gary Thomas Tryon, 67, died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 at the VA Medical Center at Togus.
He was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, on April 23, 1947, the son of Foster and Ruth (Kramer) Tryon.
Gary grew up in Ohio, and entered into the United States Army in 1967. He proudly served his country, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam before his honorable discharge in 1978. He was discharged in Maine and stayed here to raise his two children.
He was an active member of the Living Stone Church in Standish, and when he lived in Ohio, he was an active member of the Bethany Friends Church. Gary enjoyed fishing and hunting. He worked with his hands, and was an excellent woodworker, who not only built beautiful furniture, but also built himself three different log cabins; two in Maine, and one in Ohio. Gary was a family man, who was exceptionally proud of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his father, Foster of Ohio; son, Shane Tryon of Southborough, Mass.; daughter, Heather Tryon of Ashland, Mass.; three grandchildren; brother, David Tryon of Seville, Ohio; two nephews; and companion, Caroline Rowe.
A period of visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at the Living Stone Church, 711 Ossipee Trail West, Standish. A memorial service followed the visitation at the church. Burial will be at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Springvale in the spring. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com
