Gardner ‘Pat’ Norton, 77

AUBURN — Gardner “Pat” Norton, 77, husband of Eleanor (Stone) Norton, died at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014.

He was born in Lovell on Aug. 2, 1936, the son of Leewood and Lavina (Woodsome) Norton and was educated in Lovell schools, graduating from Fryeburg Academy, Class of 1956. He worked for Central Maine Power for 40 years, retiring as a line inspector in 2004. Pat was a member and past master of Oriental Lodge #13, a member of Royal Arch Masons Chapter #29 and a member and honorary director of Pine Tree Steer & Ox Association. He was a Fryeburg Fair trustee and show steer superintendent for many years. In 1981, he received the IBEW Life Saving Award. Pat enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, woodworking, gardening and country music.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor Norton; daughter, Melissa Norton of Bridgton; sister, Merilyn Stocklen of Biddeford; brother, Richard of Durham; and several nieces and nephews. Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.chandlerfunerals.com

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton.
