PORTLAND — Gail F. Hopkins, 59, of Portland, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, with her loving family by her side following a courageous and dignified battle with cancer.

Gail was born in Portland on July 5, 1954, the daughter of the late Peter Sr. and Mary L. (Green) Reali. Gail grew up in Portland and attended local schools. She was a 1972 graduate of Deering High School.

For many years Gail worked at Fairchild Semiconductor, and most recently worked as a TSA agent for the Department of Homeland Security.

Gail was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.

Predeceasing Gail was her son, Garrett; her parents; and a brother, Peter Reali Jr.

Gail is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Timothy Hopkins; sons Wesley Hopkins of Portland and Jeffrey Cullen of New Gloucester; three sisters, Dianne Bowie of Gray, Nancy Napolitano of Portland Brigida Barnes of Portland; a brother, John Alfiero of Raymond; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A period of visitation for Gail will be held this Thursday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial for Gail will be celebrated at St. Peter’s R.C. Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland, on Friday, Dec. 13.
