SWEDEN  — Frederick M. Rothbaum, 61, of Lexington, Mass. and Sweden, died on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011. For almost 40 years the loving husband of Victoria (Babbin) and a most adoring and loving father to Max and Abe Alejandra. Fred was also a dedicated friend, advisor, teacher and colleague to many, both in his department and throughout his field. Fred passed away doing what he loved… biking near his summer home in Maine, where he and his wife have been blessed to have spent many happy summers. He could be found happily sitting at his computer near the window overlooking the lake, and always with a smile and ready for a walk, a talk, a meal at Rosie’s, or doing something with family or friends. The main loves of his life were his wife and sons, and rarely a day went by when he did not speak to his sons of sports, economics, psychology or life.

In addition to his wife and children, Fred is survived by his sister, Linda Beer of Bethesda, Md., and other close family members.
