Fred Ryan

NORWAY — Fred E. Ryan, 85, of Norway, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born in North Adams, Mass., on Nov. 26, 1929, the son of Walter and Lucy Amidon Ryan. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War, and he attended Bridgewater State College and Boston University. He had been a Business Administrator for the Fall River School Department for many years.

He was a member of the North Shore Touring Club, Ducks Unlimited, Bridgton Highlands Country Club (where he designed the new holes on the golf course), and North Reading Rifle Range. He enjoyed NASCAR, fly fishing, duck hunting, playing golf and painting portraits.

He married Janet Wick on May 9, 1970; she passed away in 2004. He is survived by his son Warren Ryan of Harrison; daughter Sheila Graham and son-in-law Michael Graham of Raynham, Mass.; stepson Stephen Wick and his wife Mary of Fall River, Mass.; stepdaughter Judith Hatch and her husband F. Crosby Hatch of Otisfield; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, PO Box 859, Harrison, ME 04040.
