FA grad hired to head alumni program

FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy is pleased to announce Kristen Crean’s appointment as director of Advancement and Alumni Relations. Crean, an FA alumna from the Class of 1988, will oversee the school’s fundraising efforts and alumni program.

Following eight years as executive director of Portland’s Tate House Museum, in 2003 Crean began her career in development and communications at Sweetser, a mental health organization serving Maine children and adults. She has, for the last eight years, been the director of Development at Spurwink Services in Portland, a nationally accredited provider of behavioral health and education services that works with children, adults, and families throughout New England. Crean’s leadership has been instrumental in Spurwink’s expansion and diversification of fundraising initiatives, as well as in very significant increases in annual giving revenue.

Head of School Erin Mayo states, “I’m very excited to work with Kristen. She’ll be a terrific addition to the Academy’s senior leadership team. We’re especially fortunate that she’s an FA graduate with an existing understanding of our unique and wonderful school.”

Crean begins her duties at Fryeburg Academy in May.
