FA cheerleading preview

PREVIEW: VARSITY CHEERLEADING

Head Coach: Jillian Tetreault, second year

Top returning cheerleaders: Senior Autumn McGrath; Juniors Haley Kollander, Allison Thomas, Ashanah Tripp; Sophomore Emily Ouellette.

Top newcomer: Erin Fahey. Coach Tetreault expects to see additional hopefuls once school opens next week.

Strengths: The Raiders lost seven seniors last year so “we’re starting with a small group, although these girls are full of motivation and drive,” Coach Tetreault said. “They are definitely looking forward to making the most out of what we have.”

Weaknesses: Having a small roster will be the hardest challenge. “The girls will have to yell louder and work harder to make up for what we don’t have,” the coach said.

Based on what you have seen thus far, what are you encouraged by? “So far this year, we are really striving to do more for the community and the girls are willing to work hard to do so,” Coach Tetreault said. “We think it’s important for the community to know that we are not only Fryeburg Academy cheerleaders, but also support our entire town, middle and elementary schools.”

Goals: Getting support from the community, getting the school to show school spirit and encouraging all of athletes to be their best.
