CASCO — Eugene Dana “Geno” Fitzsimmons, 48, of Casco, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in Otis.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1965, in Saint Stephens, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the son and stepson of Evelyn L. (Rice) Knights of Charleston, and John H. and Mildred L. Fitzsimmons of Orrington. He lived and attended schools in the Portland area.

He was employed by Paul G. White Flooring for the past 30 years, learning several trades in the carpet, tile and flooring industry. He passed his trade on to two sons and a nephew.

His passions in life were hunting, fishing, and camping with his wife Audra and family at Highland Lake in Windham.

Eugene is survived by his parents; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Fitzsimmons of Campobello Island, Canada; an uncle and two aunts; his wife, Audra McDonald Fitzsimmons of Casco; nine children, Kimberly, Kiana, Alan, Amanda J., Dana E., Eugene Jr., Justin M., Josh J. and Karisa J. Fitzsimmons of Casco; five grandchildren; two sisters, Diana Fredrick of Ellsworth and Brenda Bridges of Otis; a brother and his best friend, Michael J. Fitzsimmons of Portland; several step-siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of gathering and celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
