SUN CITY, FLA. — Ervin E. “Sonny” Baker Jr. passed Saturday, May 30, 2015, after a long battle with cancer in Sun City, Florida.

Sonny was born on Dec. 23, 1941, and was raised in Harrison by Pearl and Ervin Elmer Baker Sr. His early days were spent imitating Roy Rogers, as he boarded horses right in town. At times there was high anxiety when they would get loose. However a sleigh ride provided good public relations. Later, he sported a DA, as only a select few males can. Along with the hair came a guitar. Along with the guitar came Elvis, B. Holly, C. Berry, Big Bopper, and the Everly Brothers, and their music flowed, sometimes loudly, from the Winslow Street house, much to a young brother's delight. Then came a black ‘52 Mercury, and membership in the Pacers car club in Bridgton.

He graduated from Bridgton High School, class of 1960, then he spent four years in the Air Force, including a year in Japan, which he loved. Sonny worked for Pratt & Whitney in E. Hartford, Conn., for 30+ years, a career that evolved into global travel.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Baker; sisters Norma Gyure of Auburn and Donna Harris of Eliot; and brother Perry Baker of Edgewater, Fla. He was godfather to the late Jessamyn G. Baker, and Jed S. Baker of Nederland, Colo.

Loves of his life were Julie, and Golf. Condolences, or golf balls, may be sent to 421 Noble Fare Drive, Sun City Center, FL 33573.
