Elena B. Schiavi Hall, 102

Elena Barbara Schiavi Hall died on May 30, 2014, at the Bridgton Health Care Center.

She was born May 11, 1912, in Gropparello, Italy, to John and Jenny Tiramani Schiavi.

Lena immigrated to the United States with her mother and brother in 1921 at the age of nine. She arrived at Ellis Island, and from there traveled by train to Bridgton, where the family was reacquainted with her father to help run the family business.

She graduated from Bridgton High School in 1933, and later from Wilfred Academy in Boston. She was a hair stylist and also worked for her father until she married Edward C. Hall Jr. in 1944.

Lena had a passion for, and could always be found in her vegetable and flower gardens, or at the kitchen table sewing and quilting.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church and belonged to St. Joseph's Women's Guild. She was also a charter member of the Chickadee Quilters Club, to which she devoted much of her time.

She was predeceased by her husband and leaves three daughters and their husbands, Linda and George Soutiere of Naples, Carolyn and Alan Taylor of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Rita and Bob Fayle of Medway. In addition, she leaves grandchildren, Lauren, Tory, Gwen, Harrison, Drew and Kate, and great-grandsons Joel and Alan. Lena also leaves a dear sister Dorothy Koutsivitis, and special nephews Peter and Charlie. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Bruno and a brother Joe Schiavi.
