Elaine Fabello, 95

WESTFIELD, MASS. — Elaine Fabello, 95, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Genesis, Westfield, Mass., surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bridgton on August 15, 1921, to Eugene Reynolds and Carolyn (Gammon) Reynolds. She attended Bridgton schools, graduating from Bridgton High School in 1939. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Noble, a local dentist, where she met the love of her life, John Fabello, a newly-hired teacher at Bridgton Academy. They married in August of 1941.

As her husband built a stellar reputation as a teacher and hockey coach, she acted behind the scenes as a housemother and later as a typing teacher. She always called the dorm students her “boys.” Both retiring in 1969, they spent many wonderful years traveling the southeast and southwest. Their winters were spent in Florida and later Myrtle Beach, S.C.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2003, at which time she moved to Westfield, Mass., to be near her son, Jack and family. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Dianne, and granddaughter Lorin. She leaves her son John (Jack) and wife Paula; her granddaughter Jennifer, also of Westfield, Mass.; her great-grandson Kyle and great-granddaughter Tristan of Westfield, Mass.; great-granddaughter Shannan, and great-grandson Ian of Virginia.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Church in Bridgton on Friday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Forrest Hills Cemetery in Bridgton. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton. Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com
