Edward W. Ingalls Sr., 74

ACTON — Edward W. Ingalls, Sr., 74, of Acton passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford.

He was born in Nyack , N.Y. on Sept. 20, 1938, a son of the late Arthur Jr., and Ida (Ruppert) Ingalls. He graduated from Nyack High School in 1957.

From 1975 until his retirement in 1997, he was employed at the Naval Shipyard in Shop 64 Shipwright. After his retirement, he was employed at Springvale Hardware.

Since 1985, he was a member of Maine Retreads Motorcycle Group and the Goldwing Road Riders from 1984 until 1995.

He enjoyed woodcarving, especially ducks. He was also a house builder, a finish carpenter and cabinetmaker. He enjoyed helping remodel camps for his son and daughter. Ed also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, friends and grandsons.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores (Mellozzo) Ingalls of Acton; children, Christopher Ingalls of Brownfield, Karen O’Connor of Eliot, and Edward Ingalls Jr. of Acton; siblings, Barbara Kennedy of New York, Linda Goldenberg of Missouri, Arthur Ingalls III of Lebanon and Carol Ketchens of Georgia; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. with his nephew Stanley Banks officiating at the Carll Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
