Edward J. Landry Sr., 73

TEXAS — Edward Joseph Landry Sr., 73, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013.

Mr. Landry was born in Westbrook in April 30, 1940, to Onesime and Agnes Landry.

Ed was a faithful member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where he heartily enjoyed singing, fellowship and game nights with his church family and friends. He had been a member of Hilltop Baptist Church for 14 years, where he led music for two years, prepared and presented devotionals prior to dismissal to Sunday school classes, and he also taught the men’s class for two years. Ed was not hesitant to tell others of his Lord Jesus. He loved to tell the Good News.

Ed was raised and educated in Westbrook and was a member of Westbrook High School, class of 1959.

Ed joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. For a time, he was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis and helped set up the perimeter around the base.

Ed was employed by S.D. Warren Paper Company for 28 years, retiring in 1992. After moving to Texas, he was a courier at Velocity Express for several years.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his sister, Barbara LeBlanc; and his granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Craft Landry, who was the love of his life; his children, Edward Landry Jr. of Berryville, Texas, Denise Brown of Westbrook, Kimberly Jean Landry of Berryville, Texas, Charles Coleman of Westbrook, Patricia Day of Windham, Dorothy Moulton of Naples, Timothy Landry of Kileen, Texas, and Gene Landry of Garden City, Ga.; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly.

In accordance with Ed’s wishes, his ashes will be scattered in Maine in the spring.

A memorial service was held at Hilltop Baptist Church in Berryville, Texas on Oct. 26.
