Edna E. Pray, 88

FRYEBURG — Edna E. Pray, 88, of Fryeburg passed away peacefully on March 26, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in North Conway, N.H. She was surrounded by her very loving family.

Edna was born on August 17,1924, a third daughter of three children, to Olin and Glenora Hanscom of North Chatham, N.H. She was raised on a farm with beautiful rolling hills that she roamed often as a child. Edna would walk the two miles to her one-room schoolhouse daily. She also attended Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg, Maine.

Edna is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, James Holman Pray in 1985; her parents, Olin and Glenora Hanscom; two sisters, Hilda Lusky and Ruth Gilman; and her first grandchild, Kerry Heath.

Edna is survived by her five children; Glenora Pray Heath and life partner, Richard Goff of Bartlett, N.H., Teresa Pray Daigle and husband, Robert Daigle of East Conway, N.H., Bonnie Pray Sanphy and husband, Douglas of North Conway, N.H., James Pray and wife, Sue of Waterbury Center, Vt., and Herbert Pray of Fryeburg, Maine; ten grandchildren, Michele Daigle Monteiro, Matthew Daigle, Elisha Sanphy Logan, Tamen Sanphy, Andrea Pray, Ian Pray, Tony Trayter, Zachary Pray, Jacob Pray and Amber Pray; twelve great-grandchildren, Lydia Pray, Ashton Pray, Aleah Pray, Autumn Sanphy, Bryana Sanphy, Ashley Logan, Mikayla Logan, Isabela Monteiro, John Monteiro, Madeline Daigle, Sophia Daigle and Stephen Pray.

Edna was a very caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She did beautiful yarn work and loved to read and do puzzles. She also loved to have her whole family get together annually. She celebrated her 88th birthday with most of her family.

Edna and Holman enjoyed farming their land in Fryeburg. They would raise a large crop of squash to be taken to the Corn Shop in Center Fryeburg each fall. They also enjoyed planting their vegetable garden each year to provide food for their five children. In their retirement years, they loved to go camping at the Basin Campground in North Chatham, N.H.
