Dorothy F. Foster, 83

GORHAM — Dorothy F. Foster, 83, of Gorham, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a short illness, surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born in Portland, on April 22, 1932, to Frances and Donald Poland.

She was married to George Foster on June 7, 1969. They were married for 45 years.

Dorothy worked as a quality control inspector at GTE Sylvania for 21 years.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and especially enjoyed playing bingo. She loved to sit in her recliner and look out her sliding glass door to watch the birds that would feed out of the many birdhouses that were on her deck. She also would watch the little animals that would try to feed out of those birdhouses. She also had a family of raccoons that they would feed. She loved all animals, especially her kitty, Sammy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; her sons, William Landry of Gorham and Scott Landry of Buxton; her daughters, Donna Jewett of Westminster, S.C, Karen Dehayes of Lewiston, Joni Fecteau of Casco, Tammy Landry of Gorham and Lisa Downes of Westbrook; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Poland; a sister, Shirley Wyman; and her grandson.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 22, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Funeral service were held at St. Anne’s Church, 299 Main Street, Gorham, followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Gorham. A celebration of life followed back at St. Anne’s Church.
