NORWAY — Doris M. Waterhouse, 78, of West Paris, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Woodstock, March 26, 1933, to Lamont Toothaker and Arlene (Smith) Cummings. She attended various schools in the area. On June 18, 1950, she married Lloyd Waterhouse. For many years, she worked as a housekeeper at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway as well as at Penley’s and Mann’s Mill.

She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Oxford and the Ladies for God. She had served as Den Mother for the Boy Scouts. She looked forward to going to the Allagash with her husband, Lloyd every year. Doris loved feeding the birds and especially loved seeing orioles and cardinals. She liked horses, enjoyed watching the Red Sox and stock car racing, and raced in the powder puff and demolition derby, where she was known as “Hot Dot.”

Doris is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lloyd Waterhouse; three sons, Kevin Waterhouse of West Paris, Gary Waterhouse of West Paris and Fred Waterhouse of Norway; daughter, Gail Boutilier of West Paris; stepmother, Ruth “Nana” Toothaker; brothers, Garfield Toothaker of Gorham, Dickie Toothaker of Weld and Eddie Toothaker of Fryeburg; sisters, Pat Smith of China and Carol Parisi; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Cliff Cummings; sister, Ellie Witham; and foster mother, Dorothy Putnam.

Visiting hours were held on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Grace Fellowship Church, 29 Poplar Street, Oxford. A reception was held at the church. Interment was at the Wayside Cemetery in West Paris. Arrangements under the care of Oxford Hills and Weston Funeral Services, 1037 Main Street, Route 26, Oxford.
