Donna Grover

STANDISH — Donna J. Grover, 75, of Standish passed away after a short illness at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015.

Donna was born in Yarmouth on Dec. 25, 1939 to Harold E. and Nettie A. Grant Hayden. She was one of five children. Donna will be always remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, whose greatest passion was helping others. In addition to caring for her four children, Donna took care of many seniors, helping them with shopping, house cleaning or just being there as a friend. She loved spending time with family and her cocker spaniel “grand-dog” Punkin with whom she’d take many walks.

Donna enjoyed gardening with her husband. They grew lots of vegetables that were shared with family and friends. Donna worked at Zayre’s, Ames and Walmart department stores, retiring in 2010.

Donna is survived by her son, Bruce Grover of Bridgton; daughter, Debbie Harney of Cape Elizabeth; son, William of Cape Elizabeth; siblings Arlene Morton, Phyllis Tavano of Yarmouth, Joanne Hayden of Kentucky and Edward Hayden of Brunswick; a grandchild, many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours and service were held on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial was at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale.
