Donald W. Lamson, 74

 

STANDISH — Donald William Lamson, 74, of Standish, passed from this life to the next on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015.

He was born in Portland on Aug. 17, 1941, the son of Rena (Thurlow) and Guy Lamson. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Deering High School, Class of 1959. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

Don worked over 30 years with Oakhurst Dairy before retiring. He then worked four years at Shaw’s in North Windham “to keep busy” and left to take care of his wife Helena. She died on May 31, 2015.

Don was a longtime Little League umpire in Riverton. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, bowling, woodworking and fishing. Don will be remembered as a genuinely devoted father and grandfather, who showed that his daughter and grandson were his pride and joy. He will also be remembered as a good man, who enjoyed life to the fullest, flavored with a good sense of humor.

Don is survived by his daughter, Candace Libby of Raymond; his grandson; his favorite sister Judy Howe of Yarmouth; as well as his stepdaughter Leanne Ross of Virginia.
