Donald Chadwell, 81

HARRISON — Donald Chadwell, 81, of Harrison died peacefully at home on Dec. 29, 2020, with loved ones by his side.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1939, in Stanford, Ky., the son of James and Elizabeth Stoner Chadwell. He graduated high school in 1957 in Brookville, Ohio. He served in the United States Air Force. Don worked as the production manager at various manufactured housing plants, in numerous states around the country. Don came to Maine in 1986 to work at Burlington Homes in Oxford and decided to stay in the State of Maine, retiring from Burlington Homes in 2003.

After retiring, he fulfilled a dream of raising longhorn cattle at the home that he and his wife Barbara built in North Bridgton. He married Barbara Bishop on October 3, 1991.

Don was a member of the American Legion Post #155 in Naples.

Don was an avid hunter and sherman in both Maine andTexas, bagging moose and bear in Maine and deer in Texas with his daughter Tracy Ross, her husband Rex and grandson Colton, as well as fishing in both Maine and Texas with his wife, family and friends.

Don also enjoyed restoring many antique and vintage cars over the year, the latest was his 1950 “baby blue” Ford and 1970 military jeep.

Don is survived by his wife Barbara Chadwell of 29 years; his children Tracy (Chadwell) Ross, and Rex Ross of Temple, Tex., Kimberly (Chadwell) Schizas, Andy Schizas of Cedar Park, Tex., their children and numerous grandchildren; stepdaughter Tami Bishop Harriman, Tom Harriman of Bridgton, and step-son Keith Bishop of Naples; grandchildren Ashley Mallinger of California, Zayne Schizas of Cedar Park, Tex., Colton Ross of Temple, Tex., and Whitney Harriman of Naples.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Wendall Chadwell; and a sister, Julia (Chadwell) Christy.
