Donald A. Hantson, 72, of North Port, Fla. and formerly of Bridgton, passed away on May 24, 2011.

Donald was born on Nov. 9, 1938 in Paterson, N.J., where he spent most of his life. He was a construction manager with Pipefitters Local 274 in New Jersey for 43 years. Donald was an active member of the Heron Creek Golf & Country Club in North Port and the Bridgton Highlands Golf & Country Club and Lions Club, both in Bridgton. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joyce; five children, Nancy Brand, Suzanne Hantson, Joan Diamond, all of New Jersey, Robert Hantson of Texas and Donniel Hantson of Florida; three brothers, Richard Hantson of Florida, Thomas and Michael Hantson, both of New Jersey; a sister, Patricia McNeal of New York; and seven grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Comiskey.

A Celebration of Life service will be private.
