DENMARK — Denise T. Stacy, 60, died at her home on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, after a long illness.
Denise was born Aug. 7, 1954, in Westbrook. She was the oldest daughter of Harry and Sandra True.
In her early years, she attended schools in Porter, Gardiner and Fryeburg, and was a member of the Girl Scouts. After graduating from Fryeburg Academy in 1972, she attended Farmington State Teachers College, earning an Associate's Degree and was hired as a teacher's aide at Casco Elementary School. The following year she married Bertram W. Stacy of Denmark, where they resided for 39 years.
She operated Tiny Tots Playschool at her home for several years and was active with the Denmark Little League and 4-H, and also acted as bookkeeper for her husband's business. Her passion was teaching kids, so after roughly 15 years of being an Aide and Ed Tech she decided to return to school. She attended USM for one year, took several courses at St. Joseph's in the summer, then waited two more years before enrolling at the University of New England. Here she received her Bachelor's Degree for Elementary Education on Dec. 23, 2008, at the age of 54. The next year she was hired as a Literacy Specialist for SAD #72 at the Snow School.
Denise is predeceased by her father, Harry Garland True, and survived by her mother, Sandra Colwell True; sister Sherry and husband Bernie Ingalls of Madison, N.H.; sister Kathy and husband Bill and children of Eaton, N.H.; brother Mark and wife Laureen True and children of Scituate, Mass.; brother Paul and wife Billie Jean and children of Naples; her husband Bertram William Stacy; son Matthew Stacy and Jana Logan and children of Denmark; daughter Angela and husband Adam Nelson and children of Eaton, N.H.; son Andrew Stacy and fiancée Emily Farley; five special grandchildren whom she adored; and many nieces and nephews.
