CASCO — Delbert Brooks Burgess Jr., 66, died Thursday evening, Sept. 8, 2016, with his wife and daughter at his side after a valiant fight with multiple health issues.

He was born on April 15, 1950, in Portland to Delbert and Barbara Burgess.

Deb worked for the landmark company, B&M Baked Beans for over 30 years until taking an early retirement to move on the waters of Pettingill Pond to do more of what he loved — fishing. He enjoyed every type of fishing, took pride in his garden, had a passion for coin collecting, loved a good book, traveled to Florida with his wife during the winter months to visit his only daughter and her family and spent time with his dog, Charlie, who was his beloved companion.

Deb was a member of the Casco Village Church and was baptized this past week by Pastor Joyce Long. He was loved by the members of his church and contributed many hours of his time to help those in need. Patricia and Lisa have decided to donate his cornea for the preservation and restoration of sight for others.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patricia Burgess; daughter, Lisa Marie Kennedy; two granddaughters; sister, Brenda Burgess; stepsons, Dean and Christopher Gironda; and four other grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and many other friends, who admired him.

A celebration of life will be held at Casco Village United Church of Christ (921 Meadow Road) on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. A lunch reception for the family and close friends will be held following the celebration.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from family and friends. Online condolences may be left for the family at hallfuneralhome.net
