David L. Card, 79

SOUTH PARIS — David Lawrence Card, 79, of Harrison passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Market Square Health Care Center.

He was born in Lewiston on July 22, 1938, the son of Lawrence A. and Maida Chapman Card. He graduated from Bridgton High School in 1956 and faithfully served the country in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged in 1967. He opened Kubby Hole Restaurant in Harrison in 1967, which he operated for several years. He was well known for his cooking, particularly his baking skills.

Although he lived other places at times, Harrison was his home. After suffering two strokes, David was often seen around town in his wheelchair. He was known for his remarkable memory of people, places and events around the area. He was always up for a conversation. In 2007-08, Help Us Help David campaign assisted to replace his house. He had resided at Market Square Health Care Center for the last two years, where he was much loved by caregivers and known to be rolling the halls finding people to share memories with of their families and events.

He was predeceased by his parents.

David is survived by several cousins and extended family.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
