Daniel Charles

FRYEBURG — Daniel Allen Charles, 52, of Fryeburg, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.

Danny was born in North Conway, N.H., on April 16, 1963, to loving parents John and Gloria (McDonald) Charles. He spent his entire life in Fryeburg and graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1981.

Danny was actively involved in the community throughout his life. He served on the Fryeburg Fire Department for 30 years, as well as Fryeburg Rescue for 13 years. It was on Fryeburg Rescue that he met his wife, Jennifer (Hicks) Charles, whom he married in 1994. Danny was a member of Pythagorean Lodge of Masons, Fryeburg, and was proudly presented with his 25-year pin this past December by his father.

Danny was always a worker and held a variety of jobs dating back to his teen years. He owned and operated Danny's Family Restaurant in Fryeburg. He later worked for Northeast Pavers and Garland Lumber before venturing out on his own and running D&J Lawncare & Excavation, D&J Septic, and D&D Necessary Rooms.

Danny enjoyed hunting, auto racing, dancing, and socializing. He was a loving and special friend to many and was so proud of his family and children. He would give you the shirt off his back and ask for nothing in return. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his son Benjamin Daniel and daughter Colby Grace of Fryeburg, and daughter Kassandra Theile of Wichita, Kansas; brothers David and wife Cindy of Brownfield, and Dana and wife Liz of Fryeburg; nephews Zachary, Haden, and Travis; nieces Sydney, Alexis, and Leah; step-nieces Jennifer Moore and Sara Roberts; aunts Carol Andrews of South Carolina and Jean (Dale) Hamilton of North Conway, N.H.; goddaughter Karli Keene of Conway, N.H.; in-laws and second dad, David and Elaine Hicks of Casco and James and Donese Oliver of Fryeburg; along with many cousins and close friends.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2015, at Fryeburg Fairgrounds, followed by a Masonic service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Special Olympics of Maine in Daniel's name, 125 John Roberts Road, #5, South Portland, ME 04106.
