Dana E. Edgecomb

STANDISH — Dana E. Edgecomb, 57, of Standish died on Dec. 23, 2011 at his home.

He was born in Portland on March 16, 1954, a son of John and Esther Irish Edgecomb. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of Bonny Eagle High School in 1972. He went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Southern Maine.

Dana worked for several years at the Veterans Administration Research Lab in Boston. He worked for a few years at Coca Cola in South Portland. He worked several more years at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Portland.

Dana was an avid historian and was a volunteer curator of the Standish Historical Society Museum and a member of the Maine State Historical Society. He was also very interested in genealogy and was a member of the Maine Genealogical Society and the New England Historic Genealogical Society. He was a life member of the John Libby Family Association. He also worked part-time at the South Portland Library. He also enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening.

He was predeceased by his father, John J. Edgecomb, and his stepfather, William A. Tierney.

Surviving are his mother, Esther Tierney of Gorham; three brothers, Wayne Edgecomb of Florida, Neil Edgecomb of West Baldwin and Paul Edgecomb of Arizona; a stepbrother, Kevin Tierney of Arizona; his sister, Diane Edgecomb of Saco; and several loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. at the Watson, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish. Rev. Linwood Arnold will officiate.
