Clifford Barnes

WESTBROOK — Clifford A. Barnes, 85, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at his residence with his family at his side.

He was born Jan. 15, 1931, in West Baldwin, the son of Almon and Marion Barnes.

Clifford attended local schools and graduated from Fryeburg Academy. After high school, he served in Korea with the U.S. Army in the Third Infantry Division. After his service to his country, he worked many years as an engineer for New England Telephone.

A longtime resident of Westbrook, he enjoyed canoeing, fishing and hiking up in the Allagash area of Maine.

He is predeceased by a brother, Burleigh Barnes; and a sister, Evelyn Hedges.

Clifford is survived by his wife of 62 years of marriage, Llewella Barnes of Westbrook; a sister, Mildred Nicoletos of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland.

Dennett, Craig & Pate, 13 Portland Road, Buxton, (Bar Mills) are entrusted with the services.
